"Both of my eyelids weigh like a thousand pounds."
This year has been heavy and rough and kerri's music has been keeping me company, a friendly melancholy by my side. After dropping his seven song EP, glow, at the end of 2022, kerri followed it up with two EPs and a full-length album. BUNNYHUG opens with "fourdoors" which might be my most streamed song of the year. I can't get enough of it.
The Montreal artist followed that up with his HURTING EP, six songs featuring imagiro and Afternoon Bike Ride. As if that wasn't enough (along with plenty of scattered singles throughout, like the unstoppable “IOU” or the acoustic performance of “Hands”), kerri closed out this year with a full-length Finish What You Started. It's a nineteen song project deep diving into the psyche and sonics of kerri. The more time spent within this world, the better. It’s emotional, it’s vulnerable, it’s overwhelming, and it’s catchy as hell. It feels like coping and grieving at the same time. If my phone wasn't in silent mode until the end of time, "alvin's theme" would be my new ringtone.
"Roll up the window, don't let out the fumes. Four door coupe, and it's all for you."
Every year, it’s always so difficult to narrow it to 50.
